• Blades for slicers

    To every slicer its blade.
Slicer users may have different needs and depending on the use of the slicer it is necessary to have a suitable blade, both in diameter and in material and characteristics.

The blade is one of the most important elements in a slicer; it will be primarily responsible for cutting the product, so to get the best results it is necessary to choose it carefully.

SB Slayer manufactures slicer blades for domestic, professional, and industrial use.

Types of blades on the market

In order to choose the right blade for your needs, you need to understand how much and how you will use the machine.
Do you need to cut bread, cold cuts, or meat? Are you a slicer manufacturer or an end customer?Depending on your needs, there is a solution.

SB Slayer offers slicer blades for domestic, professional, and industrial use of the highest quality with an excellent price/quality ratio.

    • For domestic use, the most commonly used (and recommended) diameter is less than 300 mm and the material used by Slayer Blades is predominantly C45 steel, an excellent material that balances strength and toughness thanks to a good. the concentration of carbon.
    • Blades for domestic use generally need to be sharpened less frequently than industrial blades, so an extremely tough material is not required.
    • For professional blades, Slayer Blades mainly uses 100CR6 steel, with very high resistance to wear and fatigue.
    • Consequently, it will guarantee the best performance even with intensive and professional use. Sharpening will not be a problem thanks to the special characteristics of the steel.
    • For industrial blades, SB Slayer has developed two innovative technologies: Bi-metal and RIPPER BLADE. Bi-metal makes it possible to produce a stainless steel blade with a hard steel cutting edge. RIPPER BLADE combines the strength and cutting qualities of Bi-metal with excellent stability.
    • SB Slayer also has innovative third-generation blades in its catalog: the new innovative technology allows the blade to perform at its best without heating up the slicer blade, thus not compromising the flavor of the food.

SB Slayer has a research and development department and works with designers and manufacturers to find innovative solutions for every need.

How and when to change the slicer blade

After a certain amount of time and use, the slicer blade will inevitably start to cut food less accurately or tear food: it may be time to sharpen it.

However, after a certain amount of sharpening, the blade will wear out and lose mm in diameter, to the point of creating too much space between the sail and the blade, not allowing proper slicing and cutting.

It will be necessary to remove all the elements that hold the blade in place, usually by simply unscrewing the screws or bolts that hold them in place, including the blade cover.

To extract the blade, when possible, we recommend using a quick blade extractor, which is available and compatible with most models on the market.

The extractor should be positioned by matching the extraction holes with the metal pins on the tool.

After that, the knobs must be screwed in to prevent the blade and extractor from disengaging.

The blade can now be extracted by unscrewing it anti-clockwise.

    Slicer blade maintenance

The maintenance of the slicer blade is essential in order not to alter its performance, as well as for hygienic reasons.

It is necessary to sharpen the blade regularly, whenever the cut becomes coarse or if it tears the food without cutting it cleanly.

Blade maintenance is mainly divided into two stages: sharpening and cleaning.

We recommend cleaning the blade frequently, using a soft cloth or a non-scratch sponge and alcohol or a non-aggressive detergent.

We recommend taking special care if you are cleaning a Teflon-coated blade, use a mild detergent to avoid scratching or scuffing the Teflon coating.

    Advice on sharpening blades

Blade sharpening can mainly be done professionally with the blade sharpener, which is often integrated with the slicer.

In this paragraph, you will find a summary of best practices, for a more complete compendium we refer you to this article.

If your slicer has a built-in sharpener, simply follow the instructions in the manual to proceed with sharpening.

Usually, it will be enough to lower the sharpener until the emery and the slicer blade touch.

In case your slicer does not have a sharpener, you can buy a separate sharpener compatible with your model or a universal one.
